Crunch Time – Sell my Car Fast

by sellcarusr 25. July 2010 19:51

I have often got impatient when trying to sell something. This is particularly true when selling a car. I want to sell my car fast. Although if you try and force a sale to get it done fast you are likely to shoot yourself in the foot. For starters, you are not going to get the best price if you do it haphazardly. There is probably going to be a multitude of things you can do to enhance the value of your vehicle before it hits the market. The other thing is that you are more likely to accept an offer even if it is well below the vehicles value. Stop, find your centre and then proceed. Make a list of possible ways you can enhance your vehicles value.

I am guilty of all of the above. I have tried to sell my car fast and it has backfired severely. I have accepted terrible offers that were as low as fifty percent of the vehicles blue book value. I have not cared about getting the car polished up and ready for the market. I have even neglected to service the car for twelve months while it was my daily ride then attempted to offload it on an unsuspecting victim. This has resulted in a situation that has alienated future buyers and completely stopped them coming back. It is interesting to note also, the times I have accepted terrible offers has had the same buyer come back when I have advertised another vehicle. They have become disenchanted when I haven’t accepted their next paltry offer and I never heard from them again.

So times I have attempted to sell my car fast. Have really opened up a Pandora’s Box of unhappy buyers, uninterested buyers and annoyed customers. Sometimes you really want to get rid of a vehicle quickly and have plenty of reason to do so. For instance if the car is beyond repair, you have no room to store the car (you may live in an area with no off street parking and your garage and driveway are already at the point of bursting) or you are just sick of looking at it. If this is the case you can just call a scrap metal dealer and get them to take it away and make a few bucks for the metal in it. Although if the car is salvageable in the sense that it can easily be resold to someone who wants to drive it instead of cubing it then it is really worth holding onto it a little longer.
Of course you also have the option of taking the vehicle to a used car salesman. Although this is not going to get you the price you want for the vehicle. They will more likely try and offer you a trade which just amplifies the problem more than anything. They may offer to sell it on consignment. This at least gets it off your property and out of the way.

Approaching the Right People Who Will Buy your Car

I have come to the realisation that in order to sell my car fast it is better to approach the right people the first time rather than approaching a lot of uninterested people. You need to know who is in the market to buy a car. This may be determined by the type of car you want to sell, the type of people that have bought the car you want to sell and how much these people have paid for the car. If you are selling a car that is better suited to a family then you need to connect to the market that will appeal to those looking for a family car. If you are selling a classic car then there is no point advertising it to new drivers or family orientated people.

It is all about the niche that your car belongs too. When I want to sell my car fast and it is a classic car I will first look around at what the car is worth. I will then look around for who wants to buy classic cars. There are plenty of hobbyists out there. It is a matter of connecting to them through swap meets aimed at these people or groups that are created to cater for the avid collector. You may also wish to approach an agency online that purchases cars to resell. This will ensure you get a fair offer and are able to come to an agreement quickly. If you really want to get rid of the car quickly this may be the best option available to you.

If I was looking to sell my car fast and it was a family car like a station wagon or van I would probably focus on approaching people who actually have a family. The thing with family cars is that they are also suitable for other uses. People who want extra storage space for their work or who want to transport goods from place to place will also appreciate the space that a family car can offer. Again you might want to approach an online agency to find out how much they will give you for the vehicle and many of them will give you an offer and pick the car up from your home address.

How do you know who wants your car? Well there is no easy way to determine this. It is safe to say that people who are looking for what you are selling have a tendency to find you. This is not a fool proof method, a lot of the time people may not know what they want and just browse the market looking for something that sparks their interest. If you happen to get someone like that interested in your car you can normally tell straight away if they are the right person for your car. Even if they aren’t it is possible to make them believe they are. Just treat them like they will be the future owner of your car and that your car is something they need. After that the car will sell itself.
