Why should I sell my car to you?
We think that we are definitely the best place for you to sell your car! We will offer you the best possible price we can based on current market values, collect your car from your home or work at a convenient time for you and we’ll also pay you for the vehicle quickly and without hassle.
How will you pay me for my car?
Our standard method of payment is an immediate bank transfer straight into your account. This service is completely free and in most cases is done whilst our driver is at your address.
What documents do I need to sell my car?
The only document that we really do need is your V5, otherwise known as your log book. I am afraid that we are unable to purchase your car without it.
Oh no, I’ve lost my V5/Log book, what can I do?
You can get a replacement V5 document by completing a V62 Form which can be downloaded from www.dvla.gov.uk. Alternatively you can pick one up from your local Post Office. Please bear in mind that it can take up to 4 weeks before you receive your V5 document.
Why should I use you guys rather than Part-Exchanging my car?
Car dealers are a clever lot. Even though it may look like you are being offered a ‘good’ part exchange price, the chances are that you may well be paying a ‘not so good’ price for the car you are purchasing. In our opinion you are more likely to get a better deal if you have your own money to bargain with, as most car dealers don’t really want your old car (unlike us).
But I have outstanding finance on my car?
This is no problem at all! We are more than happy to settle any outstanding finance on your vehicle and we will simply pay the difference.
What happens if my outstanding finance is more than the car is worth?
Again this isn’t a problem. We would be happy to settle your outstanding finance on the vehicle but you would need to pay us the balance. We do accept most forms of payments.
Are there any cars you won’t buy?
We do buy most cars that are under seven years old but dependant on stock levels we may decide that we do not need your car at that particular time. Please do not be offended by this and definitely try us again in the future as our stock position is constantly changing.
My car does not appear when I type in my registration?
There are a few reasons why this may happen, don’t worry this doesn’t mean that we don’t like your car, please just email us here whydoyounotlikemycar@sellthecar.com and we will be in touch shortly.
I think I might have missed a bump or scratch and I also made a mistake with the mileage of my car.
Well all our quotes are ‘subject to viewing’. This means that if when we come to collect your car it is not as described by you then we will naturally have to re-evaluate your quote. If you are not happy with our revised offer then there won’t be any hard feelings, but unfortunately we will not be able to purchase your car.
